BOARD OF DIRECTORS
President – Anne McElroy
Anne McElroy holds a BA degree in Secondary Education Biological Sciences, Norwich University, MA Specific Learning Disabilities and Behavioral Disorders, and Educational Administration, The Ohio State University. Anne has been a lifelong rider and riding enthusiast. She was a founding team member of the Norwich University Polo team and continues her riding today in the discipline of Dressage. Through her past work as Curriculum Director for the Knox County School and leadership positions on various charitable boards and organizations Anne brings experience in program design and management structure to this organization. She is enthusiastic about having the opportunity to provide equine therapy to individuals, allowing them to develop physically, mentally and emotionally.
Secretary – Lynn Bonar & Treasurer – Dave Bonar
Lynn is the Barn manager and Board Secretary, which includes selection of horses for the programs. Lynn has been in the riding industry for over 30 years and is a successful business woman who has also competed at the FEI level of Dressage. She is a Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalist in Dressage. She has taught and trained many riders and horses and helped them achieve their greatest potential. She is also an expert in horse behavior and is well qualified to lead the selection and purchase of therapy horses.
Dave, our Treasurer, is a retired businessman with many years of experience in marketing and sales to The Department of Defense. He has a thorough understanding of the military infrastructure, and processes and procedures used by the military in program acquisition and management.
Amy Stoner
Amy K. Stoner has been a music educator for 20 years. Amy believes strongly in the ability of The Arts and animals to healing the mind, soul and body. Although she is relatively new to the land of horses, she is no stranger to how animals can heal. She has returned to her family roots in Fredericktown, and more specifically Batemantown, and along with that the small farm life. Amy brings her expertise with children, experience be a part of several board of directors and her creativity to the Hobby Horse Hill Therapeutic Equestrian Center
Jim Stoner
Jim Stoner brings a great deal of energy and experience to the Board of Director’s of Hobby Horse Hill. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University and has a variety of business connections that he brings to table, in hopes of developing our programs down the road. Jim’s marketing experiences include a career in the arts, academia, construction, and business development. His paths have also included receiving several significant grant rewards. Jim hails from Central Ohio, and was raised in a rural community, and is no stranger to the satisfaction and pleasure to be had from having a relationship with animals. He is very excited to work in whatever capacity he is asked to help build the healing programs available at Hobby Horse Hill to a greater audience.
Cara Seibel, LSW
Cara Seibel is a Licensed, Independent Social Worker with a Master’s in social work from The Ohio State University. She originally obtained her Bachelor’s in psychology from Miami University in 1998 and went on to specialize in school social work at Ohio State. She now works as a clinical therapist for The Village Network in Mansfield, Ohio. Cara has ridden off and on at Hobby Horse Hill since the ripe old age of 14 and now enjoys watching her children ride there as well. She is well aware of the value of a good four-legged therapy partner.
Joanna Manning
Joanna Manning is our apprentice instructor. She manages a horse farm in Mount Vernon, OH. She has three children and has been involved in numerous volunteer activities. She helps with our rescue horses and our therapy sessions. One of her favorite sessions to run is the round pen activities.
