SEA STAR: Sea Star came to the barn 5 years ago. She is a Chincoteague Island pony about 13 years old. She has been fox hunted and is now a children’s program pony. She is very patient and loves her job. She never fusses when the students jazz her up with braids and glitter.
SUGAR: Sugar also came to the barn 5 years ago as a retired hunter pony. She gets her name honestly with her sweet and willing disposition. She lets the students hug her as often as they like.
SMUDGE: Although quite small, he really is a horse and not a ponySmudge is 15 years old. He is the one that teaches kids what ground manners with horses looks like along with his therapy riding job. His small size makes him a perfect partner with children and, like his other stable mates, tolerates dress-up sessions with grace.
Harlequin(Harley): is a 13 year old draft/paint cross who is privately owned. The owner donates time on him to the program. He has a perfect disposition for a child or an adult and seems to understand the unique character of each rider.
SMARTY: Smarty is a registered POA (Pony Of America). She was a show and parade pony. Because of her colorful spots and sweet nature the children seem drawn to her. Her registered name is “Little Miss Smarty Pants”, and she shows students how to strut their stuff, bringing out the best in their abilities.
T-GEN: T-Gen is a privately owned Hanoverian dressage horse. He is 18 hands and is trained to Grand Prix level. Time on him is donated by the owner for our Para-Olympic student. He has been shown Prix St. George and is a Silver Medal winner. He is a wonderful School Master for our Para-Olympic rider.
